Revolutionary Films & Books, 1776-2026: Lewis and Clark

About

America's revolutionary drumbeat continues beyond July 4, as the Rockbridge Historical Society and resumes its monthly series of free community screenings and conversations: "Revolutionary Films & Books" (second Tuesdays & third Wednesdays through the Fall, respectively).

On Sep. 8 (6 PM, Lexington Library), a screening and discussion of Ken Burns' documentary, "Lewis & Clark" will be followed by a discussion of Stephen Ambrose's bestselling "Undaunted Courage: Meriwether Lewis, Thomas Jefferson, and the Opening of the American West" on Sep. 16 (6 PM, Lexington Library).

Events begin with related movie and book trailers, and author/director interviews to seed questions and conversation. Read the book beforehand, or come to share in the general discussion of American history, learn from the insights and questions of fellow Rockbridge neighbors, and check out your copy afterwards from the library!

For video trailers and teasers, see RHS Instagram or RHS Facebook, or contact RHS Executive Director Eric Wilson with questions at Director@RockbridgeHistory.org.
