Experience an inspiring evening of art, poetry, and reflection during African Landing Commemoration Week. Join Artists United for Art/Poetry Night on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 5:30–7 p.m. at 110 Gallery in Historic Phoebus.

The evening will feature powerful spoken word performances hosted by Emcee Rob Holmes, celebrating African American history, culture, resilience, and creativity. Guests are also encouraged to explore participating galleries during the Phoebus Art Walk, including 110 Gallery and Art Central Gallery.

This free community event is part of Hampton’s annual 1619 Commemoration of the First African Landing, honoring the lives, legacy, and enduring contributions of Africans who first arrived at Point Comfort in 1619. Come experience an evening where art and spoken word inspire reflection, connection, and community.
