Prince William County and the Resolves of 1774

About

Join us for a local perspective of the war with historian, retired PWC teacher, and author Jim Bish. The presentation will focus on Prince William County and its leaders from June and July 1774.
During the summer of 1774 Virginia’s freeholders displayed a pure form of democracy while giving direction to their county representatives for the upcoming Virginia Convention. This massive show of unity declared a protection of those rights or else. This democratic action was Virginia’s first step to declaring independence two years later and in doing so, the county freeholders unified for the upcoming struggle with a clarity of purpose and resolve.
