Indigenous Americans and the American Revolution

Indigenous Americans and the American Revolution

About

The next program of "Revolutionary Stories: Loudoun and Beyond" series at Loudoun Museum features James "Jay" G. Harrison III, Executive Director of The Museum of Culpeper History, historian, first person living history interpreter, and archaeologist. He will discuss the history of Indigenous Americans in the American Revolution. In particular, he will examine the alliances of Native nations: how they viewed the war, why some tribes remained neutral, why others chose the side of the American colonists and while still others allied themselves with the British. In addition, Mr. Harrison will discuss the roles and contributions of Indigenous Americans during this conflict as diplomats, scouts and soldiers.
Admission is FREE but reservations are requested.
Revolutionary Stories is open to the public, and presentations will be uploaded to our YouTube channel.
The program series is made possible in part by a grant from Virginia Humanities.
