As part of BHMVA's VA250 commemorative programming, this family-friendly program will highlight the lives and legacies of two influential Virginia leaders during the Post-Reconstruction era. Through documentaries, live theatrical performances, reenactments, and historical discussion, guests will explore their impact.
Museum guests will explore the impact of John Mitchell Jr. and Maggie L. Walker on journalism, civil rights, and community leadership, followed by a reception with light refreshments and take-home educational activities for families. This program is presented in partnership with Firehouse Theatre, Maggie L Walker National Historic Site, and John Mitchell.
