Historic Castlewood will be transformed to demonstrate the Revolutionary War history of the grounds, from 1780-1781. The house and grounds will be used to bring to life the epic moments of the Revolution that occurred there. Interpretation will start in the left wing of the house and utilize picture boards and other displays. The interpreter will be in the clothing and accouterments of the 1780-1781 Virginia recruit being trained at Chesterfield Barracks. The presentations will offer background in Chesterfield’s huge role in the Revolutionary War. The demonstration portion of the program will be outside the house and showing the new interpretive signs and ultimately ending with a drill and musket firing.
