Experience a small-town Independence Day Parade in New Castle, VA. Sponsored by the Craig Valley Daughters of the American Revolution and Craig County Tourism Commission, join locals as we celebrate America's 250th year of independence. This year’s theme is the Spirit of '76, in honor of our nation's 250th anniversary of independence. Immediately following the parade, join us at the Craig County Farmers Market for parade award presentations and contests, including Best Beard, Best Patriotic Cap/Bonnet, and Watermelon Eating Contests for youth and adults. At 2 p.m., walk down the street to the Craig County Courthouse to hear a reading of the Declaration of Independence on the courthouse steps. At 2:50 p.m., bring your bells and pots & pans to make a jubilant noise as Craig County participates in the Bells Across America national bellringing. Don't miss it!
